Chemistry department one of the best of such kinds was established in the year 1976.The result of the first batch of B.Sc Chemistry students was very much outstanding and laudable.Mr.M.Ramachandran secured II Rank in the University.In the  year 1981,the department was upgraded to post graduate department by the introduction of M.Sc Chemistry .Now this department is one of the best Chemistry department in the university,with three well equipped laboratories and an excellent department library.There are eight teaching faculty members and six non-teaching faculty members.
