	The history of this department goes back to the very inception of the college which started functioning as a junior college in 1967.The very first principal of this college was a history prof:late Dr.AP.Ibrahim Kunju.Degree course in History was inaugurated during 1971-72.MA History course began in 1984.Presently History dept is one of the prestigious depts;of this college.The Department has a flair for achieving cent percentage result both at Degree and PG levels which was actually cherished with very rare exceptions.


	Proudly we can declare that very often we were able to topple other neighboring colleges in this respect.History students have won FIRST RANK in MA History Examination in2005 and SECOND RANK in BA History Examination in 2006.This department used to get incredible number of FIRST CLASSES every year.Last year we have 22 first classes out of 41 candidates appearing for the BA Degree examination (53.65%)the same batch also bagged SECOND RANK.(Sreena.PS)
