	The Department of Physics in MES Kalladi College started in July 1967 with the inception of the college.At that time there was only P.D.C with science & maths group.B.Sc mathematics was sanctioned in 1971 for which physics was opted as one of the.subsidiary subject.Introduction of B.Sc chemistry course & sanctioning of additional batches for pre-Degree happened during succeeding years.With the introduction of shift system by the Govt of Kerala new batches were sanctioned.

The department has elevated an a post graduate department,when M.Sc physics course was sanctioned by the state government in 2001-02.The department was shifted from2002 onwards to the newly constructed building Silver Jubilee block of the collage.
